i've been going for classes recently.. classes arranged for 小娘惹 cast and production team. etiquette classes, "history" lessons, cooking class, and even shoe beading, etc.. all of us are involved, so it's always a big group of "students" learning new stuff together =) it makes the learning process a lot more fun.
we went to Katong Antique House and had a cultural run-through, a crash course on the peranakan history and a "peek into the past". this place is filled with antique peranakan furniture, clothes, shoes, ancestor photographs.
this bibik here was there to speak to us too.. a regal figure in a petite frame. and i took the chance to have a photograph with her.. =)
i went for shoe beading class today. i found it alot of fun. i have always liked handicraft work and i think being able to create a piece of artwork is extremely fulfilling.
class was only 2 hours.. and this was all i managed to complete by the time class ended. the teacher said that it would usually take 90 hours to complete the whole thing! i think he probably meant an expert.. an amateur like me? i think it's many times more than that..
